Lisa Capelouto, Director

An experienced program designer and organizational strategist, Lisa has worked on developing and designing a variety of programs for Legacy Heritage Fund, including Project Accelerate and now Mikdash. Before that, Lisa worked as a strategic consultant and leadership coach advising a variety of Jewish organizations and foundations in Europe and the USA with a specific focus on launching new initiatives, leadership development, organizational change, mergers, and collaborations. Her clients have included Pears Foundation,UJA-Federation of New York, and Natan Fund. She lives in Westchester, NY with her family and is a proud member of Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle, NY.


Alisa Rubin Kurshan, Director

A Jewish educator by training, Alisa served for two decades as the senior planning executive at UJA-Federation of New York. Alisa was the driving force behind the UJA’s increased support to synagogues. Alisa’s deep lifelong connection to synagogues (first as a rabbi’s daughter and later as a rabbi’s wife) and her conviction in the power of a Kehila Kedosha have shaped the creation of Mikdash. She was a Wexner Graduate Fellow while earning her Ph.D. at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and is a graduate of Barnard College. Alisa currently serves as Education Director for Project Accelerate, and now co-directs Mikdash. Alisa and her husband, Rabbi Neil Kurshan, raised their four children in Huntington, NY, and currently live in Manhattan.
